Today is the day! We were on our way to get the auto train from West Virginia to Florida. Our relocation move had started months before. The PODS with our belongings were already at the our new home just waiting to be unpacked upon our arrival.
Yesterday was a hectic day with the final packing of the 2 vehicles and attending the farewell party that was hosted by our church. We had a wonderful time listening to all the memories our congregants had of us. The farewells were said and many promises to visit whenever we can. We were finally on our way. It was a long drive from New York to get the train and we looked forward to just sleeping in the room we had reserved.
We were finally on the train and in our room. We had dinner in the dining car and I needed a shower before going to bed. The porter for the car showed me where I could get my shower. I came back from my shower and went into the porter’s room instead! My room was next to his. My husband and myself had a good laugh.
We finally got into bed, when the phone rang. It was my best friend of almost 20 years. We prayed together and she encouraged us to enjoy the adventure. It was indeed an adventure! About 2.am, I woke up feeling so sick. It was as if someone had poured a bucket of water on me, I felt so faint, I could not move, yet it was uncomfortable to sit, lie down or stand! I was miserable but could not explain the feeling! BUT my Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, had prepared us for this moment. We knew where to get help. The room next to us!
My husband called for help, the porter in turn called for help!. When the train stopped in South Carolina, the ambulance was waiting for me. While I was being taken in the ambulance, I vomited and felt better. I wanted to get back on the train, but it was already gone. I had no choice but to go to the hospital…..
