Corona Virus…I Am Not Afraid

Don’t Panic

The world seems to be in a panic! Corona virus seems to be the worst disease ever (SMH)! When we listen to the constant loop of news, it is about to wipe out the entire world population and people go crazy buying up as much toilet paper as they can find! What in the world does toilet paper have to do with the virus? In all of this, I have the peace of God and refuse to panic, because I understand that God has made a masterpiece of a body that heals and rejuvenates itself, if we give it what it needs. Our body is a fighting machine that seeks to protect itself and sends signals, in the form of illness/sickness/pain, etc., to remind us that it is in a war and needs our help.

I help my body fight disease

I remember growing up in the country area in Jamaica, where my parents knew of all the herbs that could take care of what ever was ailing us. We were hardly ever sick, except for the occasional colic obtained from over eating. We had lots of fresh fruits and vegetables straight from the garden. We had lots of space to play all day in the sunshine and fresh air. We got the occasional “wash out” or detox and de-worming at the end of each summer in preparation to go back to school. However, we have become more sophisticated and have forgotten how to help our bodies keep well and fight off diseases and viruses including the corona virus, with the food nature prepares for us!

After my two heart attacks, I have returned to my “roots” and have been doing the things that kept us healthy as children and allowed our grandparents to live well into old age. A recent blood test to determine the chances of another heart attack, showed a significant reduction in the risks. As a matter of fact, it is almost in the normal range! Thank God!.

My routine

I have written about the NEW START elsewhere on this website, and this is what I follow. Along with the guidelines from the CDC, I boost my immune system in the following ways;

I Take Vitamin C

Vitamin C

Each morning I take at least 1000 mg of vitamin C. Vitamin C is shown to have significant effect in helping the body recover quickly from the flu. If I feel that I may be getting the flu, I take up to 5000 mg of vitamin c throughout the day. Recently, a study, using vitamin c therapy on 300 corona virus patients, showed so much promise that the Chinese government recommended it as a means of treatment. Dr Carolyn Dean, Md, ND, Director of Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, described this effort, using vitamin c , against the corona virus, and gives the recipe here. Vitamin C therapy is not new, it has been in use for a long time. That is why we like to drink orange juice during a common cold. I just added Emergen-C to my tool-kit

I Do Sauna Treatments

Infrared Sauna

Once per week, I sit in my at home sauna for 20 – 25 minutes and “sweat it out”. I then replace the minerals by drinking coconut water and re-hydrate with filtered water. If you do not have a sauna, you can do a ” Steam Bath” like our grandparents did. You can request a recipe and the procedure by emailing me. The corona virus is said to be destroyed at temperatures above 86 degree F.

I Take Hot and Cold Showers

Take Contrast Showers

Alternate hot and cold water in your shower. Run the hot water as hot as you can tolerate for 1 minute and then as cold as possible for 2 minutes. Alternate this for at least 5 turns. This stimulates lymphatic system and blood flow and causes the body to detoxify.

I Use Black Walnut Extract

Black Walnut Extract

Black Walnut Extract helps to support the immune system as it fights infections. Dr. Axe suggests that it holds anti-fungal and anti-microbial activity. It also helps to remove parasites from the intestines.

I Use Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera Plant

I make a concoction of Aloe Vera juice(fresh from my garden), orange juice, ginger juice with or without honey each morning. Apart from the cardio vascular and many other benefits, Aloe Vera has detoxifying and immune boosting benefits.

I Exercise, Sunbathe and Get Fresh Air

I walk

I take a 2 mile outdoor walk each morning before the sun comes up and at nights I do aerobics before I go to bed. I have written about the benefits of exercise on this blog. I also sunbathe regularly to boost my vitamin d levels. I open my doors during the day to get fresh air in and sleep with my door ajar at nights.

No Sugar, Drink Water

I do not use sugar or drink bottled juices. I use fresh fruits and drink lots of filtered water. According to Dr. Sears, excess sugar is known to reduce the ability of the immune system up to 40% each time sugar is consumed. This starts within half hour after consumption and can last up to 5 hours. Nutrition Diva, Monica Reinagel, says eating sugary treats puts your immune system in a temporary coma. I avoid processed foods with sugars, especially high fructose corn syrup, sugary drinks, even store bought juices. I filter all the water I drink and I try to get in at least 3 quarts per day. I sip every 15 minutes and drink a full 12 oz glass of water first thing in the morning.

Less Stress, More Sleep

Deep, restful sleep

According to Healthline

Stress stimulates the immune system, which can be a plus for immediate situations. This stimulation can help you avoid infections and heal wounds. But over time, stress hormones will weaken your immune system and reduce your body’s response to foreign invaders. People under chronic stress are more susceptible to viral illnesses like the flu and the common cold, as well as other infections. Stress can also increase the time it takes you to recover from an illness or injury

Timothy J. Legg PhD, PsyD

Sleep is by far the most important thing you can do to maintain health. I try to get to bed before 10 pm and get at least 7 hours of sleep. It is during sleep that the body clears out the junk and rejuvenates itself. Sleep study done at the university of Pennsylvania, found that even a short term loss of sleep significantly impacted the immune system function. Eric J. Olson, M.D. of The Mayo Clinic says that lack of sleep or too little sleep makes a person more likely to get sick after being exposed to a virus, and affects how fast on recovers after getting sick. Dr. Jen Tan agrees and cited some studies.

Trust in God

I eat right, lots of fruits and vegetables, and do all the things outlined above as well as follow the CDC guidelines. However, I feel I am in partnership with the Almighty. No one knows the day nor the hour when he or she will leave this life, neither do I. No one knows how he or she will leave this life. I do what I know and leave the rest to the Creator and Sustainer of Life, the One who gives peace that passes understanding. I encourage you to do the same.

Here is a short video of encouragement for you from Dr. John Bergman.

  3. Hi Jacinta, thanks for sharing. I will try to do some of the things you mentioned here. I have seen a great change in you, you are doing extremely well. I know you speak from experience and you have authority on that. I will have to get myself motivated to do regular exercise and to eat healthy. I have been trying but I still have a long way to go.
